Atlantyk-trans by Tomasz Szerszeń

Tomasz Szerszeń treats the Atlantic not as scenery but as a living archive: migration, escape, memory, climate, ships and the peculiar condition of being in between. The book itself follows a transatlantic journey, moving through the ship and deeper into the ocean. My first notes were simple: a ship’s cross-section, crossing, horizon, gangway. In the end I reduced all of that to one gesture. I treated the ocean photograph almost as raw material and let the oversized title cut across it, too large to sit politely on the cover.

The title does what the book does: crosses a boundary. The image becomes space, typography becomes movement, and the cover never quite settles on one side or the other.
